Having been awarded the right to host the 2032 European Championship jointly with Turkey, Italy has submitted its complete plan for the tournament to UEFA, detailing the cities and stadiums where matches will be held.
According to statements from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), only five will be selected. However, the FIGC’s bid has one major peculiarity.
Ten of the stadiums listed in the documents right now… don’t even exist! Others have been proposed, but reconstruction plans haven’t even gotten off the ground yet!
These include the new San Siro, Roma’s new stadium, the “Diego Armando Maradona” stadium in a more improved form, the new Artemio Franchi, which also still needs a tremendous amount of work, the new home stadium that Bologna will acquire, the new home stadium that Hellas Verona is set to acquire, Cagliari’s new stadium, as well as the renovated stadiums in Lecce, Palermo, and Salernitana.
