Enzo Maresca is the only option on the minds of Manchester City’s management for Pep Guardiola’s successor, should the latter decide to step down.
The Catalan coach has a contract for one more year, but there are strong rumors that he won’t see it through to the end. In that case, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian coach is the top favorite for the position.
The former Olympiacos midfielder previously served as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City. He began his coaching career at Parma, then led Leicester back to the Premier League, and spent a year and a half on the Chelsea bench, with whom he celebrated the Conference League and the Club World Cup last year.
He has been without a team since the beginning of the year, having resigned from the London club due to disagreements with management, and is reportedly ready for the challenge of succeeding Guardiola.
