At 41, Luka Modrić remains the undisputed leader of the Croatian national team. He stubbornly refuses to grow old and consider himself “too old” for the sport, and this puts him in a very unique position.
He has now reached the point where he has teammates on his national team who, when he made his debut (in 2006) wearing the national jersey, they weren’t even born yet!

A prime example is Luka Vuskovic, born in 2007, who receives Modrić’s advice and guidance on the field with him right by his side.
And yet, when Milan’s evergreen attacking midfielder first joined Croatia’s senior national team, the Brighton center back hadn’t even been born yet!
