Easy? Not at all. A walk in the park? Not a chance. This Panathinaikos team learns through adversity. It tests its limits—and those of its fans. Through six big games in the qualifiers, with setbacks, mistakes, and lessons not learned, the “clover” managed to stay on its feet and honor its history by advancing to the League Phase of the Conference League.
Cyril Dessers, with two goals—winning the penalty for the second one in the final seconds of extra time and scoring from the spot with incredible composure— sealed the 2-1 victory over Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic. Even though the “Greens” were caught off guard again in the final moments, they couldn’t avoid the shock and the need to play another extra half-hour, but all’s well that ends well for the team, which will embark on new European adventures and will find out this Friday at noon where on the Old Continent the new season will take them.
