He withdrew his participation

The Cincinnati Masters 1000 will take place with several notable absences, as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have withdrawn from the tournament.

The Spaniard, although he was optimistic that he would return to action after quite some time, has not fully recovered from his wrist injury and, to protect himself, has decided to sit this one out. On the other hand, the Italian tennis player is dealing with a problem in his right knee and, for the same reason, withdrew from Cincinnati, as he had been experiencing discomfort in recent days and visited his doctor in Milan.

The organizers made the announcement via social media, with the No. 1 player in the ATP world rankings confirming the news shortly afterward, stating: “After consulting with my doctors and my team, I must announce that I will withdraw from the Cincinnati Masters 1000. My right knee is bothering me, and although we’ve worked hard with my medical team, I have to accept that I’m not yet ready to compete. I’m very disappointed that I can’t play in Cincinnati, and I wish Bob Moran and his entire team a great and successful tournament. I look forward to returning next year, and I’m now focusing on my preparation for the US Open.”

Now, Alcaraz and Sinner are focusing on the US Open, where both hope to return and compete for the title.
