Zinedine Zidane got off to a perfect start as France’s head coach, as following the victory in Turkey (0-1), the “Blues” also defeated Belgium (0-1) in the Nations League. Last night, it took an incredible solo run by Michael Olise to score the winning goal in the 88th minute, with “Zizou” going wild in celebration and kicking a ball that happened to be in front of him.
At a press conference, the French legend was asked to comment on that reaction and replied with a smile: “To be honest, I don’t even know what I did! What’s certain is that I followed Michael (Olise)’s move because I sensed he was going for a solo run. And he made an excellent play. After the goal, I saw the ball in front of me and… I had to shoot, even if I looked a little silly. But it’s no big deal.”
