Panathinaikos fell short against PAOK in the second semifinal of the Stoiximan Super Cup.
The “Greens’” head coach, Zeljko Obradovic, speaking at the press conference, focused on his team’s performance despite the loss to PAOK.
Here is what he said in detail:
On the game: “It was a very good game. Congratulations to PAOK; I’m happy with the way my players fought. We had very poor free-throw percentages, and in the first half, PAOK had 13 offensive rebounds. The ending was a bit different—these things can happen. We didn’t get the rebound, and PAOK scored. Congratulations again on the win.”
On whether he thinks the missed free throws were a matter of concentration and if he has an explanation for the missed rebounds: “Players always have to shoot free throws just like they do in practice. We’re working on that. We happened to miss a lot of free throws today. You have to shoot free throws just like in practice. It’s a matter of concentration, no doubt about it. We need to be more careful, and we will be.
As for the rebounds, in the first half we weren’t in a good position to box out because we were right under the basket. I’m very happy with how my team is performing; we’ve only had 11 practices so far. We know what we need to improve, and we’ll try to do that. We have a few days until the next game—we play on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.”
