The summer transfer window has closed for the major leagues, and this summer saw a great deal of money spent on numerous transfers.
The Premier League once again took the lead, as nine of the ten most expensive transfers involved its own teams, while 14 of the top 20 signings were by English clubs.
The most expensive transfer was that of Enzo Fernández from Chelsea to Manchester City, which is the most expensive in Premier League history at 145 million euros and the fourth most expensive of all time (behind Neymar’s move to Paris for 222 million, Kylian Mbappé to Paris for 180 million, and Ousmane Dembélé to Barcelona for 145 million).
The only non-Premier League entry in the Top 10 is the signing of Yon Diomandé, who moved from Leipzig to Real Madrid for 125 million euros and is the fourth (along with that of Bradley Barcola from Paris to Liverpool) most expensive transfer of the summer.
Premier League teams spent 4,112,500,000 euros on player transfers this summer! Manchester City spent the most at 526.2 million euros, followed by Chelsea at 406.7 million, while Tottenham came in third at 366.3 million.
In LaLiga, a total of 755,280,000 was spent, Ligue 1 spent 600,100,000, Serie A spent 1,163,200,000, and the Bundesliga spent 781,800,000.
