Tarik Biberoivic's future with the Mavericks is extremely uncertain, as the Dallas team tries to find a way to keep Dwight Powell on its roster and must “sacrifice” one player.
The Turkish international forward, along with Marcus Sasser and Moussa Cissé, are the candidates to be released, according to respected NBA reporter Mark Stein.
“League sources told ‘The Stein Line’ that the Mavericks have informed Powell that they intend to make a serious effort to find ways to retain the player with the longest tenure on the team (since December 2014), even though no obvious solution is currently in sight. The Dallas contracts that are easiest to terminate belong to a trio of players the front office is eager to retain: Biberoivich, Sasser, and Cissé,” reports Mark Stein.
Despite already having a 15-player roster with standard contracts, the “Mavs” signed the 35-year-old Canadian center to a one-year, $3.88 million contract, who is averaging 6.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in 763 games with the team.
Biberovic, who was selected 56th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, moved to the U.S. after an eight-year stint with Fenerbahçe and signed a two-year contract worth a total of $6 million.
