Olympiacos, playing with ten men, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nijmegen in the Netherlands and was eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers, failing to reach the group stage of the top European club competition for the second consecutive year.
Although the “Red-and-Whites” were eliminated in the third qualifying round of the first, UEFA’s top club competition, they secured direct entry into the group stage of the Europa League thanks to the rebalancing process, thus avoiding the playoff round.
There, Olympiacos will be placed in the first pot, thanks to its high UEFA Ranking coefficient, and will learn its opponents in the draw on August 28.
