Olympiacos is entering the final stretch of the transfer window with one of its top priorities being to strengthen its attacking wings, and Rubén Vargas remains high on the listof the “Red-and-Whites.”
Despite the denial issued Sunday evening regarding reports of a deal for the Swiss winger, the Piraeus club appears to still be working on the deal. After all, the club’s position was clear that there is no agreement regarding Vargas, though this does not necessarily mean that interest in signing him has been abandoned.
The 28-year-old Sevilla star is one of the top targets for Olympiacos, with talks between the parties involved having been ongoing for some time. The Spanish club is reportedly asking for 15 million euros, while the Greek champions have made an offer of 12 million euros plus approximately 2 million euros in bonuses.
The financial gap is not considered insurmountable, which is why the Piraeus-based club is trying to keep the lines of communication open with Sevilla, seeking a formula that could lead to an agreement. Vargas remains a highly sought-after prospect, but Olympiacos is not limiting itself to him alone.
Betis’ Pablo García is also on the transfer radar. There is interest in the 20-year-old Spanish winger, with reports suggesting an offer in the range of 8 million euros. He is a player with a different profile—younger and with significant room for growth—who plays primarily on the wings and is particularly skilled with his left foot.
Garcia’s inclusion on the transfer list indicates that the “Red-and-Whites” want to have alternatives ready as the end of the season approaches. In fact, it’s possible that the activity surrounding more than one winger is also linked to Olympiacos’ intention to make two additions on the wings, provided the right conditions arise.
Brian Hill is also among the players being considered. The 25-year-old Spaniard is yet another name that has caught the attention of the Piraeus-based club, with Olympiacos monitoring developments regarding his future and maintaining contact. The case of the international winger presents its own challenges, yet he remains part of the broader plan to strengthen the offense.
Meanwhile, Saint-Étienne’s Zuriko Davitashvili also remains on the list. This particular case presents greater challenges, but Olympiacos has not given up on it and is monitoring developments surrounding the Georgian attacking midfielder.
