ALPHANEWSLIVE

A tough test for Olympiacos as they prepare for the new season!

The Piraeus-based team will face Red Star (9:00 p.m.) in Limassol, Cyprus, for the “Neophytos Chandriotis” international tournament, which also features Aris and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

This will be the third test for the “Red-and-Whites,” following their participation in the Crete International Basketball Tournament held in Heraklion, Crete. There, Giorgos Bartzokas’s team first defeated Fenerbahçe 82–77 and then beat tonight’s opponent 87–77, winning the tournament and leaving a positive impression, with Montero, Miller-McIntyre, and Ediai making their debuts with their new team.

For Olympiacos, next up is a game on Sunday afternoon (September 13, 6:00 p.m.), followed by a trip to Qatar for the EuroLeague Super Cup, scheduled for September 18 and 19.

The Olympiacos roster, which received a hero’s welcome upon its arrival in Cyprus, did not include Tyreke Jones, who underwent minor surgery to remove a cyst from his right thigh and did not travel with the team, making him the only player missing from the “Red-and-Whites.”

As for Red Star, Ibón Navarro will have both Moneke and Miljenović at his disposal, while on the other hand, Davidovac and Jurišić have been ruled out, as they have not yet fully recovered from their injuries.

Earlier, at 6:00 p.m., Aris will face Maccabi Tel Aviv in the game that kicks off the tournament. Vassilis Spanoulis will have the opportunity to draw valuable conclusions for his team from these two games against EuroLeague-level teams, given that on Sunday (September 13, 3:45 p.m.), they will also face Red Star.

Mokoka, Poulianitis, and Tanoulis remained in Thessaloniki to continue their rehabilitation, while the ailing Stefan Jović also did not travel to Cyprus.
