Olympiacos has stepped up its transfer plans, with strengthening the midfield being one of its top priorities. The “Red-and-Whites” are expected to sign two midfielders, seeking players who will bring creativity, quality, and a greater threat near the opponent’s box.
At the top of the list is Edu Espósito, who appears to be José Luis Mendilibar’s preferred choice. The 30-year-old Spanish midfielder from Espanyol knows the Basque coach well from their time together at Eibar and possesses the qualities Olympiacos is looking for in its midfield.
The case of Esposito is not considered straightforward, as he is under contract and Espanyol does not seem willing to release him without a commensurate financial compensation. Olympiacos, however, appears determined to explore the conditions for his acquisition, with Medilibar having given the “green light.”
Meanwhile, the Piraeus club has also received a proposal for Stephen Eustachio and is seriously considering him. The 29-year-old Canadian international plays for Porto, with whom he is under contract through the summer of 2027, but is currently on loan. The Portuguese club is reportedly asking for approximately 5 million euros, a figure that makes the deal feasible if Olympiacos decides to move forward.
Eustaquio has top-level experience, having also represented Canada at the World Cup. He is a midfielder with good passing ability, competitive intensity, and the ability to play various roles in midfield—qualities that have been viewed positively by the “Red-and-Whites.”
Also on the transfer list is Daniel Braganza of Sporting Lisbon. The 27-year-old midfielder had previously been on Olympiacos’ radar, but the two serious knee injuries he has suffered are a significant factor in the evaluation of his case.
At the same time, the transfer of Manolis Saliakas is very close to being finalized. Olympiacos is waiting for St. Pauli to accept the offer it has made for the 29-year-old right back, with the two sides close to reaching an agreement. The Greek international is expected to form a strong partnership on the right side of the defense with Mafeo.
Regarding the goalkeeper position, the top priority is Stefan Ortega. Developments regarding Konstantinos Tzolakis will determine the final moves, as the German goalkeeper is intended to be the starter only if the Greek international leaves. No final agreement has been reached yet, with Olympiacos closely monitoring the situation.
