Olympiacos: Going all out for wingers and midfielders

Notable Cases
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Olympiacos’s transfers are entering the final and most crucial stretch, with the “Red-and-Whites” now focusing their efforts on signing a winger and a central midfielder. With the right-back deal now finalized and Pedersen set to don the red-and-white jersey, the club is picking up the pace to make the final key additions to the roster.

The greatest need right now appears to be on the wings. Olympiacos isn’t just looking for another player to round out its options, but for a winger who can make a difference and bring elements that are missing from the team.

The name that has come to the forefront is that of Betis’ Pablo García. According to reports in Spain, the Piraeus club has made significant progress toward signing him, with reports even suggesting an offer as high as 9 million euros.

The case for García appears to be gaining traction, though this does not mean that other options have been ruled out. Sevilla’s Rubén Vargas remains a possibility and is a player requested by José Luis Medilbar. However, this particular deal presents significant difficulties, and despite reports in the Iberian press that have at times suggested the two sides were close to an agreement, no progress has been made that would allow the deal to be finalized immediately.

Girona’s Hill is also on the list of wingers, with Olympiacos having considered several options from the Spanish market. Thus, the situation remains wide open, with Garcia, Vargas, and Hill being the options on the table to bolster the attacking line.

At the same time, Olympiacos’s transfer activity isn’t limited to wingers, as there is also intense interest in a central midfielder. The Piraeus club is looking for a player who will raise the level of play in midfield, and the name currently at the top of the list is Morten Fredrup.

The Danish midfielder from Genoa is a top target, and Olympiacos has made a move to sign him. Reports from Italy indicate that the “Red-and-Whites’” offer is substantial, but as of now it has not met Genoa’s demands, to give the “green light” for the transfer to proceed.

Edson Alvarez also remains in the picture. His case has lost momentum recently and he does not appear to be at the top of the list of preferences, however, he remains one of the available options, and further developments cannot be ruled out as long as the transfer window remains open.

At the same time, there are other options that have been considered, such as that of Nicolás Domínguez, who plays for Nottingham Forest, with Olympiacos keeping various options open until it becomes clear which one can proceed under the best possible terms.

Time, however, is a key factor in the negotiations. The Piraeus-based club wants to finalize its key moves in time to finalize the roster and submit the European roster.
