Olympiacos is entering the most critical phase of its transfer strategy, as the coming days are expected to bring significant developments aimed at strengthening José Luis Medilibar’s roster.
According to the latest reports, the “Red-and-Whites” are very close to finalizing the transfer of Joel Roca from Girona. This particular deal appears to be the most advanced at the moment, with both sides having made substantial progress in their negotiations.
The 21-year-old Spanish winger is a personal choice of Mendilibar, who has given his approval for the signing. The Piraeus-based club has intensified negotiations with Girona, and there is optimism that the deal could be finalized as early as this weekend, so that the player can join the preseason training in time.
Beyond that, Olympiacos continues to pursue two additional transfer targets. One involves Duarte, who remains a free agent and is still high on the list to bolster the defensive line.
At the same time, club officials are still looking for a solution for the right side of the defense. Although the name of Marios Vrousai had been in the mix recently, his situation appears to be fading following recent developments, with Olympiacos now considering different options from abroad.
Strengthening the midfield also remains part of the transfer plan. The Piraeus club continues to scout the market for a midfielder, though so far no deal has emerged that is at the same advanced stage as the one involving Roca.
