Today is a particularly important day for Olympiacos, as Vangelis Marinakis unveils the plans for the new “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium, while the “Red-and-Whites” continue their preparations at a fast pace ahead of the new season.
The presentation will take place at the Piraeus Municipal Theater, where the club’s chairman will unveil the plan to build the new 53,000-seat stadium. This project is estimated to cost approximately 250 million euros and will be financed by Vangelis Marinakis himself.
According to reports, following the presentation, the procedures regarding the necessary urban planning approvals still need to be finalized, including an increase in the permitted height of the facility from 40 to 52 meters, in order to pave the way for the project’s implementation.
At the same time, there are also developments on the competitive front. Antonio Miguel Cardoso has taken an active role in transfer planning and visited the Renti facilities, where he worked with José Luis Medilibar and Darko Kovacevic.
The Portuguese official is now actively involved in managing pending transfer matters, with his primary mission being to expedite negotiations. The cases of Joel Roca and Petar Stanic remain high on the agenda and are considered to be at a particularly advanced stage, while Domingos Duarte remains a key target for strengthening the defensive line.
At the same time, Cardoso is called upon to leverage his extensive experience and network of contacts in European soccer, contributing both to finalizing transfers and to the overall organization of the soccer department, with the goal of making Olympiacos even more competitive in the new season.
