Olympiacos: Fuster Gets to Work – Bailey and Sa Return Ahead of the “Marathon”

All the latest news on the "Red-and-Whites"
ALPHANEWSLIVE

David Fuster is preparing to return to Greece early this week to officially take up his new duties at Olympiacos.

The 44-year-old Spaniard spent three days in Piraeus and at the Renti training facilities before temporarily returning to his home country to attend to personal matters. In his new role, he will work directly with Antonio Cordon on organizational matters, will be closely involved with Imanol Alguacil, and all signs indicate that he will also be present on the bench during matches. At the same time, he will maintain a connection with the reserve team and the U-19 squad through his collaboration with Álvaro Rubio and David Rodríguez.

There is also positive news from the field, as Bailey and Sa have stepped up their training and are expected to be available for the derby against Panathinaikos. The Jamaican winger is already training with the rest of the team, while the Portuguese attacking midfielder is expected to rejoin the regular training schedule in the coming days. Their returns are particularly significant, as Olympiacos is entering a period of back-to-back, demanding matches.

The “Red-and-Whites” are enjoying the new three-day break granted by Imanol Alguacil before returning to Renti to begin their final preparations for the derby. From October 11 through November 8, Olympiacos will play nine games over a 29-day span, effectively facing one match every three days. At the “G. Karaiskakis” Stadium, they will host Panathinaikos and PAOK, while for the Europa League group stage, the team will travel to France twice for matches against Marseille and Rennes, and will host Sparta Prague.

Rounding out this demanding schedule are league matches against Panetolikos, Kalamata, and Kifissia, as well as an away Cup match against Marko. Specifically, Olympiacos will play, in order, against Panathinaikos (10/11), Marseille (10/15), Panetolikos (10/18), Sparta Prague (10/22), Kalamata (10/25), Marko (10/28), Kifissia (10/31), Rennes (11/5), and PAOK (11/8), over a period that will require depth in the roster and proper management by the coaching staff.
