Olympiacos: Three-day break and countdown to Gustavo Sa’s return

A rest, and then... preparations for the Piraeus team
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The Olympiacos players now have the chance to catch their breath after a demanding stretch of training and matches. Imanol Alkuathil has given his players three days off, with their return to the Renti training facility scheduled for Tuesday. The Basque coach, however, will have to wait a little longer before the national team players—as well as those recovering from injuries—are available again.

The focus is on Gustavo Sa, who is in the final stages of his recovery. The Portuguese midfielder is making good progress, and if all goes smoothly, he is expected to step up his training starting next week and gradually begin integrating back into the regular training schedule. Olympiacos has no intention of rushing his return, as the priority is for him to come back fully ready.

The 21-year-old Portuguese player is one of the key options for the “Red-and-Whites’” midfield. The injury he sustained in the match against OFI has so far prevented Alguacil from seeing him on the field as much as he would like, with Coach Vasco expecting a lot from his abilities.

At Renti, they want Sa to be available for the derby against Panathinaikos on October 11, followed by the European match against Marseille in Marseille. The final decision will depend on his progress over the next few days, with the coaching and medical staff proceeding step by step, without taking any unnecessary risks.
