Olympiacos vs. Volos: Second matchup in a few days with many changes

The two coaches' possible choices
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Olympiacos and Volos will face off for the second time in just a few days, with the “Red-and-Whites” hosting (9:45 p.m.) the team from Magnesia at the “G. Karaiskakis” Stadium for the second matchday of the League Phase of the Greek Cup.
Three days ago, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Panthessaliko Stadium in the third matchday of the Stoiximan Super League, in a match marked by the very serious injury to Ayoub El Kaabi, who suffered a tibia fracture and underwent surgery on Sunday, beginning the difficult road to recovery.

This was also the first loss of points for the Piraeus team in this year’s league, with José Luis Medilibar’s team putting in a poor performance for most of the match, despite the fact that in the second half it was clear that everyone’s attention was focused on the Moroccan striker. For Volos, it was their second draw in three league matches (0-2-1), with Kostas Bratsos’s team capitalizing on an Olympiacos mistake to score the equalizer in the 76th minute via Komba, in one of their few bright moments of the match.

As for the Cup competition, Olympiacos got off to a strong start in the competition, comfortably defeating AEL Novibet 4-0 in Larissa in the opening match of the League Phase. Tonight, the “Red-and-Whites” are expected to make several changes to the starting lineup, with José Luis Medilibar leaving Ortega, Ese, and Garcia from the roster, as well as the injured Piola and Roca. The big news is that Yaremchuk has been activated and is on the roster for a match in which Puerta is expected to make his debut.

Olympiacos’ roster: Popovic, Tsopanidis, Stournaras, Saliakas, Smailovic, Karamo, Pedersen, Retsos, Bruno, Tiknizian, Koutsogoulas, Fortounis, Sa, Martins, Puerta, Sipioni, Froiler, Bakoulas, Tsikinio, Filis, Yaremchuk, Silva, Gonzalez.

On the other hand, Volos Elabet earned a valuable home point in the opening match of the League Phase of the competition, drawing 2-2 at home against Kalamata after trailing 0-2 as early as the 38th minute. In terms of the lineup, Kostas Bratsos left out Siambanis, as well as Mentil, Urtado, Barre, Lekous, Ronel, Katsikas, Tasiouras, and Neyiu.

Volos’ roster: Koselev, Gerofokas, Mygas, Es Saoubi, Kargas, Atziakoua, Lykourinos, Tsochanis, Fabio, Garavelas, Komba, Grosdis, Vainopoulos, Regis, Furtado, Tzoka, Lambrou, Gonzalez, and Charalamboglou.

Possible starting lineups:

Olympiacos (José Luis Medilibar): Popovic, Koutsogoulas, Smaïlovic, Karmo, Tiknizian, Filis, Puerta, Zelson, Fortounis, Sa, González.

Volos Elabet (Kostas Bratsos): Koselev, Mygas, Es Saoubi, Kargas, Grosdis, Koba, Fabio, Furtado, Lambrou, Gonzalez, Charalamboglou.
