Olympiacos extended its winning streak in this year’s Stoiximan GBL on Sunday afternoon (10/11)!

The “Red-and-Whites” struggled quite a bit against a combative Kolossos team that was exceptionally accurate from beyond the 6.75-meter line, ultimately celebrating a home victory behind closed doors at SUNEL Arena—a win that was harder-fought than the final 99-83 score suggests—in the second round of the league.

Giorgos Bartzokas’s team held the lead throughout the game, however, they were unable to capitalize on the double-digit leads they built at various points, allowing the Rhodians to get back into the game and close the gap to as few as 7 points, three minutes before the end.

The standout performer—and the one whose baskets decided the game in the closing moments—was Jean Montero, with the Dominican guard finishing the game with 30 points (6-for-8 from the field), 3 assists, 4 steals, and a rating of 30. Close behind were Vezenkov (16 pts., 4 reb.), Fournier (13 pts., 3 ast., 3 reb.) and Milutinov (4 pts., 10 reb., 2 ast.).

For Kolossos, Willis and Kamperidis scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Now, the “Red-and-Whites” are turning their attention to the EuroLeague’s “hell week” and their away games against Valencia (Oct. 13) and Barcelona (Oct. 16), while the Rhodians head to their away game against Getze for the FIBA Europe Cup.

Quarter scores: 27-22, 54-41, 77-67, 99-83.
