Olympiacos BC reacted immediately to the scathing statement issued by AEK BC early Saturday morning, regarding the damage caused at SUNEL Arena and the slogans written in the arena’s common areas, during the “Red-and-Whites’” game against Anadolu Efes in the fourth round of the EuroLeague.’
A few minutes after the Association’s statement, the European and Greek champions issued a statement and fully condemned the actions of a few mindless individuals—as they specifically emphasized— actions that marred what was supposed to be a celebratory game hosted by AEK at the Ano Liosia Indoor Arena.
In fact, the Olympiacos Basketball Club stated that immediate instructions have been given to repair all damage caused to the arena, while making it clear that all necessary steps will be taken to identify those responsible for these acts so that they are barred from entering the arena again.
The full statement reads: “It is
with great regret that we observed certain slogans written in common areas of Sunel Arena, and orders were immediately given to repair all the damage.
It goes without saying that we condemn these few mindless individuals who tarnished the game—the celebration of the European Champion—and all necessary measures will be taken to identify them and ensure they never set foot in the stadium again.
We are confident that the Olympiacos fans, who created an amazing atmosphere, will serve as a protective shield for the stadium that hosts us.”
