The Stoiximan GBL season comes to a close today (10/11), with Olympiacos hosting Kolossos Rhodes behind closed doors at SUNEL Arena (1:00 p.m.) for the second round of the league.
The “Red-and-Whites” are looking to build on their positive results, as they not only got off to a strong start to the season by defeating Heraklis on the road in the first round, but they’re also coming off their best performance yet—two days ago against Anadolu Efes, whom they easily defeated 89-66.
Giorgos Bartzokas’s team has a total of six wins in seven games, with their only blemish being a loss to Virtus in Bologna.
Olympiacos’ opponent is a team arriving in Athens with high morale. Specifically, the Rhodians cruised to a comfortable home victory in their season opener against Doxa Lefkada, while midweek they celebrated the biggest win in their history, at the expense of Neftchi Baku, thus securing their first positive result in European competition.
The strength of Aris Lykoiannis’s team in these early games has been their defense, something they’ll need to showcase again today against one of the toughest opponents they’re expected to face this season.
