James Rodríguez is close to signing with a surprise team!
According to a report published by the Spanish newspaper “Marca,” the Colombian attacking midfielder has been in talks with the Italian club Avellino for several days now, with the two sides reportedly very close to reaching an agreement!
At 35 years old and having played in Greece during the 2022–23 season, when he wore the Olympiacos jersey, James is a free agent following his stint in the U.S. and the MLS with the Minnesota team, for which he played in only 8 games, from last February through July.
After his stint with the Piraeus club, he also played in Brazil (São Paulo), Spain (Rayo Vallecano), and Mexico (León), and took part in this year’s World Cup with the Colombian national team, and it appears he will continue his career with Avellino, which plays in the second division of Italian soccer.
