Omonia-Lincoln: The “Clover” is going all out for a spot in the playoffs

The big rematch kicks off at 8:00 p.m.

The GSP Stadium is once again decked out in its festive finery, and Omonia is donning its best European… outfit to welcome Lincoln today (August 13, 8:00 p.m.) to host Lincoln in the rematch between the two teams for the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

The “Greens,” coming off a 1-1 draw in their first meeting, are determined to capitalize on their home field advantage and the crowd that will pack the stadium in order to secure the much-coveted victory and, consequently, advance to the tournament’s playoffs.

Conditions are more favorable compared to the match in Gibraltar, as the players of the Cypriot champions will be playing on natural grass rather than artificial turf. At the same time, the temperatures are more familiar to them than to their opponent.

The “Clover” must play with greater effectiveness and deliver better final passes—elements that, as Henning Berg himself noted in yesterday’s press conference, were lacking from the team and will be the “key” to a positive result.

Omonia will aim to play the dominant brand of soccer we’ve come to expect from them and leave no room for Lincoln, which is expected will approach the match with greater caution and try to… strike at key moments.

As for team news, Odubajo is continuing his rehabilitation program and will not be available. On the other hand, Aiting has stepped up his training and will be among the Norwegian coach’s options. Finally, Koulibaly, Kakoullis, and Nego are returning after serving their suspensions.

As a reminder, if they are eliminated, the “Greens” will be relegated to the Conference League, where they will face Imperia in the playoffs.
