Nottingham Forest is attempting to make a major signing in goal just before the transfer window closes, with Giorgi Mamardashvili in their sights. The Georgian goalkeeper from Liverpool is the “Reds’” top target, as they look to make him their new No. 1.
The Nottingham club currently has 34-year-old Matt Sels on its roster, but is looking for a more consistent and high-quality goalkeeper. According to the respected journalist Mateo Moretto, Forest is trying to capitalize on the fact that Mamardashvili hasn’t gotten the playing time he expected at Liverpool, remaining in the shadow of Alisson.
The 25-year-old was signed in the summer of 2024 from Valencia, but has made only 10 Premier League appearances. Most of his appearances came last season, when he earned a starting spot due to the Brazilian’s injury.
With the transfer window closing, Nottingham is trying to bring Mamardashvili to City Ground and complete one of the most high-profile moves of this summer.
