Panathinaikos completed one of its most strategic moves of the summer, as Viktor Christiansen signed his contract with the “clover” after successfully completing all medical exams in Italy and Athens.
The Danish international left back—and the top target for that position, at the request of Jakob Nistrup—is joining the roster on loan from Leicester, with an option to buy for the next four years. The clause will be activated if he plays in 50% of Panathinaikos’s matches, for 45 minutes or more.
The announcement from Panathinaikos FC:
“Panathinaikos FC announces the one-year loan, with an option to buy, of Viktor Christiansen from Leicester.
Viktor was born on December 16, 2002, in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a product of the Copenhagen youth academy, where he made his professional debut on November 4, 2020, in a Danish Cup match against Avarta. He remained with Copenhagen until January 2023, winning one Danish league title and one Danish Cup. In total, he made 73 appearances—including 6 in the UEFA Champions League group stage—scoring 1 goal and providing 8 assists, before transferring to Leicester.
In the summer of 2023, he was loaned to Bologna, where he played for one season, making a total of 34 appearances and recording 4 assists. A year later, he returned to Leicester, where he played in 51 matches and recorded 2 assists.
At just 23 years old, he has already made 42 appearances in the Premier League and 32 in Serie A.
At the international level, he has 18 appearances for the Danish national team, having previously played for all of his country’s youth national teams (U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-21).
We welcome Viktor to the Panathinaikos family.”
