Panathinaikos was terrifying in Belgrade! Armed with its rock-solid defense, offensive versatility, and an explosive third quarter, the “Clover” stormed Partizan’s home court, prevailing emphatically (55-72) and going 5-0 in the EuroLeague. Zeliko Obradović’s team dramatically stepped up its performance after halftime, laid the groundwork for their dominance, and turned what had been a closely contested game in the opening minutes into a one-sided affair, silencing the Beogradska Arena.
Panathinaikos significantly limited the Serbs’ offensive firepower, found solutions through multiple key players, and demonstrated its quality in one of the most demanding road games of the competition. At the same time, the team celebrated its first road victory in this year’s EuroLeague, sending a resounding message to all quarters about its capabilities.
It was also a special night for Obradović, who returned to the home court of his beloved Partizan and watched his team dominate the club with which he made his own history. “Zoc” dealt a blow to his former team, as the “Greens” remained undefeated and confirmed that they are in excellent form at the start of the season.
The standout of the game was Nigel Hayes-Davis, who was outstanding on both ends of the court with 14 points, while Juancho Hernangómez also had a strong performance with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Matías Lesor did a lot of “dirty” work; he scored only 4 points but had 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Moustapha Fall contributed significantly with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block.
In the next (6th) round, Panathinaikos AKTOR will host Hapoel Tel Aviv at the Telekom Center (Oct. 16, 9:15 p.m.), while Partizan will face Fenerbahçe in Istanbul (Oct. 15, 8:45 p.m.).
