PAOK wrapped up its second friendly match on Dutch soil against Westerlo with a major setback, as Yiannis Sarris’s injury has caused concern among the coaching staff and the team’s personnel.
The young midfielder left the match after a challenge for the ball, as he felt discomfort in his knee and was unable to continue. Sarris will undergo the necessary tests to determine the extent of the problem and whether it is a minor injury or something more serious.
There is cautious optimism at PAOK, though everyone is waiting for the test results, as this is not the first setback of the summer training camp following Tsalov’s recent injury.
Despite Sarris’s injury, the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” put on a strong performance against Westerlo, winning 4-0 and making a particularly good impression in the first serious test of their preseason. Alessio Lisi had the opportunity to draw useful conclusions, observing many of the elements he wants to incorporate into his team’s play.
Attention now turns to the next friendly match, scheduled for Tuesday against AEK Larnaca. The Italian coach will continue to experiment with players and formations, hoping that Yiannis Sarris’s injury isn’t serious and that the young midfielder will return to action soon.
