PAOK is picking up the pace on its transfer plans, as, following the signing of Aritz Elustondo, it has now completed its second major addition for the new season with Baptiste Santamaria, while simultaneously continuing its search for a center back, a winger, and a forward.
Santamaria is a player whom Alessio Lisi had had his eye on for quite some time to strengthen the midfield.
The experienced midfielder has significant experience on European stages, having played for Tours, Angers, Nice, Rennes, Freiburg, and Valencia. Last season with the “Bats,” he made 22 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Beyond that, PAOK officials are continuing their efforts to finalize other transfer deals before the second phase of preseason training. Pantelis Hatzidiakos remains high on the list, with the “black-and-whites” awaiting a positive response from Copenhagen. In Thessaloniki, there is optimism that a definitive development could occur within the next few days, as an agreement has been reached with the Greek international center back.
At the same time, PAOK is reportedly close to signing a left-footed winger. Negotiations have progressed significantly, and club officials are confident that the selected player can make an immediate impact, following the example of players who quickly adapted to the team’s demands.
The issue of the top striker remains open, with several candidates under consideration, though no final decision has been made yet. The goal is to sign a forward who will perfectly fit Alessio Lisi’s tactical needs.
Meanwhile, the situation is different in the case of Jorge Sánchez. The Mexican right back remains a target for Atlas, which is persisting in its efforts to bring him back to Mexico. Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing, but so far no agreement has been reached, as there remains a discrepancy regarding financial terms and negotiations are still underway.
