Alessio Lisi and Ilias Charalambous are being thrown in at the deep end right from the start and must learn to swim quickly… as they face the first major challenges of the new season.
PAOK must put the match against Brann (1-1) and focus entirely on the match against the team from Livadeia, without thinking about the rematch or the European “final” they’re set to play in Norway. A match that will determine the “black-and-whites’” European future and, to a large extent, the sense of calm that will prevail both on and off the field in the coming weeks.
The Italian coach still does not have all the resources he needs at his disposal, as the team’s transfer activities are still ongoing. The void left by Giannis Konstantelias remains significant, while Anestis Mythou is the only forward who is 100% ready, with Serif Endiaye still needing time to adjust.
On the positive side for Lisi is the return of Andrija Živković to the “black-and-white” starting lineup, as the Serbian was suspended for the European matches against Bran.
In addition, Taha Ali trained normally with the team; however, if and when PAOK decides to include him, he will be available only for the match against Bra and not for the one against Levadiakos.
On the other side, Levadiakos is in the post-Nikos Papadopoulos era, with Ilias Charalambous stepping in to fill the huge void left by the Greek coach and continue his work with the same success.
The Cypriot coach’s debut, however, was extremely successful and particularly impressive, as Levadiakos easily defeated Asteras AKTOR 2-0, thanks to two goals by Agustín Urzi, in the qualifying round of the Superbet Greek Cup.
