Today marks the start of the new season for PAOK, as the team holds its first training session under the guidance of Alessio Lisi. The Italian coach arrived in Thessaloniki yesterday and is getting right to work, having already begun discussions with club officials to plan for the new season.

The new coach of the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” arrived in the city with his wife and child, as only a few details remain before he officially takes over his duties. His arrival was the final piece of a puzzle that had involved a series of meetings over the past few days regarding the game plan and the next steps to be taken.

In this context, Lissi had a working dinner with Leo Matos and André Vieirinha, with the main topic being transfer planning. The three men discussed the squad’s needs and the priorities that have been set ahead of summer training and the first official matches.

The first and most immediate need concerns the defensive line. PAOK considers it a given that at least two signings will be needed in the backfield to strengthen the center of the defense and provide more options for the new season.

Arits Elustondo remains at the top of the list, and there is an open line of communication with him. Discussions are ongoing, and both sides are seeking a formula that could lead to an agreement, with PAOK maintaining its interest in the Spanish defender.

At the same time, club officials are also interested in Pantelis Hatzidiakos. The Greek international center back is among the options being considered to strengthen the defense, as his attributes and experience align with what the “black-and-whites” are looking for. However, he is not the only option on the table, as the evaluation of candidates continues.

Meanwhile, players being considered for the first training camp have already arrived in Thessaloniki. Meité, Kenny, and Soretire are in the city, while the rest of the roster is expected to join them gradually.
