Alessio Lisi is bringing new ideas to the table regarding PAOK’s offensive strategy, with the Italian coach even seriously considering fielding both Simon Bokote Banza and Pape Serif Ndiaye in the starting lineup at the same time. The two forwards have different characteristics, and it is precisely this diversity that creates the potential for them to complement each other, giving PAOK a different way to build plays and more options against organized defenses.
Banza has already made a positive impression in the limited playing time he’s had against Kalamata and Heraklis. In just over one half of play in total, he recorded four shots on goal, all on target, and scored with a header against Heraklis. He is a forward who operates primarily near the box, looks to finish, and can capitalize on the opportunities created around him.
Entiaye brings a different set of skills to the table. He is more involved in building up play, moves out of the box to link up with his teammates, and creates space with his runs. This is precisely what could allow Banza to stay closer to the opponent’s goal. Lissi has already experimented with a two-forward formation during part of the match against Heraklis, but implementing such a strategy requires balance, proper spacing, and an immediate response when possession is lost.
At the same time, one of the key questions ahead of the away match against OFI concerns Dimitris Pelkas. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder continues to experience knee discomfort and has recently been following a modified training regimen. His condition will be reevaluated during upcoming training sessions, with Lisi waiting until the end of the week before deciding whether he can safely include him in his plans.
PAOK’s fans in Crete will also be there to support the team. The club has announced ticket availability for the match against OFI, with PAOK fans to be seated in Gate 6 at the Pankritio Stadium.
