There is encouraging news for PAOK on the injury front, as both Dimitris Giannoulis and Kiril Despodov are continuing their rehabilitation and gradually stepping up their training, with the Greek international getting closer to returning to action.
Giannoulis has now entered the final stretch of his program and is increasing the intensity every day. The next step for PAOK’s left back is to gradually begin participating in the regular training schedule alongside the rest of the team, so that his ability to handle the increased demands can be assessed.
His progress so far has sparked cautious optimism among PAOK officials. Provided no new issues arise in the coming days, there is a possibility that he could be available to Alesio Lisi even for the match against Kalamata on October 12. Of course, the coming days will be crucial in determining whether he can return without any risk.
Kiril Despodov is at a different stage; he has begun training on the field, which is a significant development following his long absence. The Bulgarian attacking midfielder has been sidelined for nearly five months, having undergone surgery on May 5, and as a result, more patience is needed for his full return.
The medical aspect of his rehabilitation is progressing according to plan; however, Despodov still has a lot of work ahead of him before he can be considered for a competitive match. He’ll need to gradually regain his physical condition, intensity, and match fitness, which is why PAOK doesn’t want to set a specific return date or rush the process.
The good news is that the 29-year-old has now moved on to a more advanced stage, performing drills on the field and gradually increasing the intensity of his training program. His progress will be monitored daily, with the goal of having him return when he is fully ready.
Meanwhile, PAOK continues its efforts to arrange a friendly match during the break. Team officials are in talks to find an available opponent, with possible dates being Friday or Saturday.
