PAOK: The two major “fronts” involving injuries and contract renewals

Unresolved Issues
ALPHANEWSLIVE

PAOK has several unresolved issues to address in the coming period, both on the field and in terms of roster planning. At the forefront are the serious injuries sustained by Jiri Pavlenka and Taha Ali, who have already begun their rehabilitation following their surgeries. PAOK has no intention of rushing their return, with the priority being that they come back only when they are fully ready.

Pavlenka’s case requires special attention, as he is a goalkeeper and his injury involves a part of the body that is crucial to his position. The medical and coaching staff want to ensure a full recovery before he returns to his normal routine, and similar care is being given to Taha Ali. Both injuries resulted from contact during matches and not from muscle issues, which distinguishes them from cases where prevention and load management may play a greater role.

At the same time, there are also significant contract issues pending. PAOK is dealing with the cases of players who are key members of the starting lineup, with Giannis Michailidis, Andrija Zivkovic, and Dimitris Hatzidis among those requiring resolution. These are players who are in demand on the market, and PAOK is aware that these specific situations cannot remain unresolved for long.

The club’s management has already made an initial move regarding Michailidis, though no agreement has been reached so far, with both sides currently in a holding pattern. The timeline is even more pressing in the case of Zivkovic, as he will be free to negotiate with other clubs starting in January.
