PAOK returns to Palataki for its matchup against Ulm as part of the 4th round of the BKT EuroCup. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at 8:00 p.m., with PAOK looking to capitalize on its home-court advantage and put its loss to Lietkabelis in Lithuania behind it. In fact, this will be only the team’s second European home game played in front of its fans, following their victorious season opener against Manresa.
Andrea Trinchieri’s team is coming off a string of positive results in the Greek league, having defeated Kolossos in Rhodes thanks to Jedi Osman’s 37 points and securing three consecutive wins in the Stoiximan GBL. In the EuroCup, however, they’re looking to bounce back after a 95-86 loss to Lietkabelis, a game in which they failed to secure the result they wanted. With a record of two wins and one loss in the first three rounds of the competition, PAOK is looking to get back on track and continue its European campaign with greater consistency.
Ulm, on the other hand, is traveling to Thessaloniki at a time when it is seeking stability. Despite its two wins in the first three rounds of the EuroCup, its overall performance is concerning, as it has suffered four losses in its last five games across all competitions. In the German league, it has suffered three consecutive losses and was also eliminated from the German Cup, with its defense being a major cause for concern.
The German team has offensive firepower and tries to impose a fast pace, looking to score on fast breaks. Jalen Sims is one of its key perimeter players, while Shimi Situ brings strength and scoring near the basket. In the 102-93 victory over Bosna, Ulm showcased its offensive capabilities; however, the defensive lapses it has shown recently could cause problems against PAOK.
On the court, the Germans have no absences to contend with, while PAOK will likely have Nick Calathes and Kyle Alexander back in the lineup, who were rested against Kolossos due to minor injuries.
