Aris’s communications director, Kostas Papadopoulos, spoke to “SUPERSPORT 104” about the team’s preseason preparations and transfer plans. He also revealed that the club is considering signing a goalkeeper and hinted at transfer developments later this week.
Here’s what he said in detail
On the team’s preseason training after 46 days: “This is unusual. We usually go to two countries. This year we went to three, because it was clearly the coach’s suggestion. Also, all the new signings are young players, and we felt it was appropriate to conduct this type of preseason training.”
On signing many young players: “They can’t be judged because most of them were unknown to everyone. It’s only natural that there’s some risk involved since they’re young players. I think this year’s team will be different. It will run more, press harder, and play attacking soccer.”
On whether the roster is complete: “The players we’ve signed fit the plan we have in mind, with specific characteristics. There will be other additions. We’re not done yet.”
On the goal for the new season and the remaining signings: “It’s a spot in Europe. Just because we’re bringing in young players who are unknown to the Cypriot public doesn’t mean we signed every young player we came across. We’ll be looking for attacking options. If we find a player for a position where the team already has someone, but we believe he’s a good prospect, we won’t want to pass him up. We’re also looking into the goalkeeper situation. Vana will be out for 4–6 weeks; Zandro is excellent, but you can’t rely on just one goalkeeper for a period of 1–1½ months. There are no plans to loan out Zandro. This week will bring developments regarding transfers.”
Regarding Foderingham: “His contract hasn’t been terminated. He’s not in our plans. That’s the reality. Beyond that, it’s a procedural matter. He didn’t join us for preseason training.”
