After hours of waiting for the meeting between Vangelis Marinakis and José Luis Medilibar, white smoke has emerged.
According to initial reports, the Spanish coach will remain at the helm of the Piraeus club for the upcoming season, as stipulated in his current contract. The experienced coach first took over Olympiacos on February 11, 2024, and since then, in addition to the historic Conference League title, he has also led the team to a double during the club’s 100th-anniversary season and a Super Cup title.
The Spanish coach won his first top-flight league title with Olympiacos; until recently, his personal record included a total of two European titles (the Conference League with the “Red-and-Whites” in 2024 and the Europa League in 2022–23 with Sevilla) and one Spanish second-division title with Valladolid in 2006–07. In total, he has managed Olympiacos in 122 matches, with 75 wins, 27 draws, and 20 losses, scoring 217 goals and conceding 100.
