On the match against AEL: “Neither the result nor our performance satisfies us. We know we’re capable of more and demand more from ourselves, but there’s no cause for panic. It was just the first game of the season, and we believe the team has what it takes to perform better going forward.”
Regarding the meeting with the coach: “There have been many meetings. Yesterday’s meeting was publicized, but it is part of our regular weekly communication. It wasn’t an unexpected development that arose after the result at the ‘Alfamega’ stadium.”
On whether the coach is feeling pressure: “What he’s feeling is frustration, because he knows that with the roster he has, the team can play better. He’s a new coach; he’s still getting to know the league, and friendlies are different from official matches. Through hard work in training, we hope that Anorthosis will put on a strong performance. There have also been some injuries that have had an impact. We believe Anorthosis will be a different team once the coach has all his players available.”
Regarding the team’s status: “Furtado underwent tests, and we’re waiting for the results. Tosić will be evaluated, and we’ll know more later this week, while Artymatas’s condition is also being assessed.”
Regarding AEL’s claim that Anorthosis played aggressively: “This is a distortion of the facts. It implies that Anorthosis players intentionally injured their opponents. In the first injury, Van Nistelrooy slipped, while the second injury occurred when an AEL player attempted to mark Amboagi. “There is no need for petty political maneuvers that target a team; we will not accept this under any circumstances.”
