Olympiacos is waiting for Gonzalez, hoping for Vargas, and making a last-ditch effort for Puerta

Things are moving quickly in the Piraeus camp

One player signs with Olympiacos, fighting for the rest of the team. It’s Gonzalez Day for the Piraeus club, as the Mexican left on Thursday. “I’m very happy. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to go there. I’m eager, excited, and full of enthusiasm to play there; I’ll do what I know how to do. I really like Olympiacos, and I want to make my dream of playing in the Champions League come true. I hope to return to Chivas one day—that’s what I want. I hope they win the Mexican league this year,” said the 23-year-old forward, who is coming to undergo medicals and sign a 4+1-year contract.

Meanwhile, there are several transfer deals in the works for the “Red-and-Whites,” who are looking to fill positions, with the central midfielder, left winger, and right back positions taking center stage.

For the midfield, the two main candidates are Puerta and Cáceres. The Colombian is the club’s top target, and signing him would be a major coup if it happens. It is, of course, an extremely difficult prospect. As reported yesterday in Spain, Nottingham Forest has also entered the fray, with Santander demanding a non-negotiable fee of 20 million euros. So it makes sense to consider a potential move similar to those made in the recent past on behalf of the Piraeus club.

As for the winger, Olympiacos is going all out for Vargas, who is also a difficult case, with an offer of 12 million euros to Sevilla, which may drop from 15 million according to the latest developments. He is a player who wants to leave the Andalusian club, but does not seem particularly eager to play in Greece at this stage. Meanwhile, reports in France suggest that the deal for Cáceres has fallen through.

There is a wait-and-see attitude regarding the right back, with Mele (who plays with great ease on the left as well) indicating that he wants to exhaust all possibilities of remaining in a top-tier league, while Mafeo has officially joined Valencia.

Meanwhile, José Luis Medilibar has officially been made available to Zota Silva, having recovered from his injury in record time, with the Portuguese attacking midfielder having returned to Olympiacos training as of yesterday.
