AEK will depart for Sofia on Monday morning, as they face Levski in their first Champions League playoff match on Tuesday night (10:00 p.m.). AEK wants to put the loss in the Superbet Super Cup behind them and lay the groundwork for advancing to the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
Marko Nikolić has no injury concerns and is expected to make changes to the starting lineup from the Heraklion match. After all, there is no longer a requirement to field two players born in 2004 or later.
The back line should be considered a given, with Strakosa in goal, Moukoudi and Relvas as center backs, and Rota and Pilios covering the right and left flanks of the defense, respectively. In midfield, given that Vitalis is ineligible to play, the duo of Marin and Kairinen is the top choice, while Koita will certainly be on the left flank. On the right, Meyer and Zubkov are vying for the position, with the Croatian as the favorite. As for the attack, the duo of Jović and Varga always has the edge, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Serbian paired with Zini or even Gacinović alongside him (or slightly behind him).
“Enosis” will train at 7:30 p.m. at “Vasil Levski” Stadium, where the match will take place, while half an hour earlier, a press conference featuring Marko Nikolić and one player will be held. The Bulgarian champions will train at noon, and their coach, Julio Velásquez, along with one player, will speak to the media at 6:00 p.m.
