APOEL’s press officer, Nektarios Petevinos, spoke to “Super Sport 104.0” about the team’s preparations and the club’s interest in the Greek market.

He also discussed upcoming transfers and the speculation surrounding Limnios and Panagidis, and concluded by addressing the investment project and how the common goal is the team’s success.

Here are his comments in detail:

On the World Cup: “A safe prediction, as I see it, is that this will be the World Cup of the top scorers. You can see it even in the group stage, where they’ll have the opportunity to score plenty of goals. There will be a fierce battle between Messi, Haaland, Mbappé, and Vinícius. Their teams are built to let their star players score. I think we might see the same final as in the last tournament.”

On the procedures: “From the very first day the Fotiou administration took office, we’ve been focused on our goals and have set certain priorities to ensure everything is done right. People need to understand this and get involved.”

On the coach: “Mr. Papadopoulos is a good blend of a coach’s ambition and the team’s ambition, as APOEL is different from the teams he has coached so far. He has won titles and achieved goals. We had planned to introduce him, but it wasn’t possible or appropriate to do so due to his contractual obligations.”

Regarding preseason training: “We expect all contracted players to return by July 3. After the fitness tests, preseason training will begin. Most of it will take place in Archangelos, and then we’ll travel to the Netherlands, to a training center that both the coach and Mr. Vryzas know very well.”

Regarding the Greek market: “When you know a market very well, it makes sense to trust it. Mr. Vryzas was chosen because he has worked and played in many countries and is also familiar with other markets, such as Italy, Spain, and Portugal.”

Regarding transfer announcements: “Sometime next week, when the players return, it could be a week of announcements.”

On Limnios and Panagidis: “Any player who possesses the qualities we’ve mentioned is naturally of interest to us.”

On the roster: “We can’t give a specific number for how many signings we’ll make. If a gap arises that the coach believes needs to be filled, we’ll do so. The goal is to have a balanced roster, taking our financial situation into account.”

Regarding the Cypriot element: “For the past two years, we’ve been shifting in this direction. We have Koutsakos, Vrontis, and Georgiou, who have been with the team for years and have been loaned out. They’ve ‘come into their own’; they’re now experienced, with more than 60 matches in the First Division, and the team believes they can rise to the challenge.”

Regarding the investment project: “The meeting with the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) was part of the process. It’s a time-consuming process, but not because of us. If it depended on APOEL and Savvas Liasis, it would have been completed in seconds. An agreement of this nature, which usually takes seven to eight months to finalize, is something all parties are trying to conclude as quickly as possible. The process is moving forward; specific steps are being followed; obstacles arise, you overcome them, and you keep going. The common goal is the well-being of APOEL, and the fans understand this and stand behind the project.”
