APOEL press officer Nektarios Petevinos spoke to “Super Sport 104.0,” discussing everything related to the Nicosia-based team
He began by addressing the latest developments regarding the “blue-and-yellows’” transfer plans, leaving all possibilities open—including the case of Tasos Bakasetas.
At the same time, he spoke about the imminent lifting of the transfer ban, the moves expected in the coming days, as well as the case of Savvas Liasis and the pending decision from UEFA.
Here is what he said in detail
On whether APOEL is interested in Tasos Bakasetas: “I don’t discuss players with whom we don’t have a contract. Two players have been announced, and two more will likely be announced in the coming days. So, whatever is meant to happen will happen. If we take Barak’s transfer as a given, then our options have narrowed. There is also the possibility, if the need arises, that a player will be removed from List A and an additional transfer will be made. We’re interested in all quality players. All the players came on contracts that had nothing to do with their past.”
APOEL’s press officer then emphasized: “We aim to build a team of high quality with great potential. We didn’t say we’d put the competitive aspect aside and just see how things go. Clearly, it will take time for the team to reach the desired level. Yes, we suffered a loss in the season opener, but anyone evaluating the team’s performance would have also seen positive aspects.”
Regarding the transfer ban: “We paid the fine for the transfer ban, and yesterday the player responded—which is very important, since if that hadn’t happened, we would have had to wait five days. We expect the embargo to be lifted later today so that we can register players. We’re waiting by the minute, but we don’t know when it will happen.”
Regarding Savvas Liasis: “We haven’t heard anything new from UEFA. It’s a complicated issue. They told us to wait for a response. If it’s not seven days but ten…”
