The “master” of the rings continues to make history and do what he does best: win medals!
On Saturday night (10/24) Lefteris Petrounias took second place on the podium at the World Championships in Rotterdam, winning the silver medal at the World Championships for the second time in his career.
Shortly after his historic performance, the rings legend took to social media to share his own message about this success, revealing that he had been sick with a fever in the days leading up to the competition.
Here is his message in full: “I’m speechless!
From last week’s hell to today’s paradise.
A cold, a 39 fever, and lots of thoughts about what went wrong. But I pulled through one day before the final, and today I did what I had to do: a routine worthy of my potential.
Second in the world. Yet another medal that represents a lot of hard work, faith, and love for what I do. From me and my team.
Thank you to everyone who stood by me!
P.S. It’ll be a while before I step down from the podium. And it’ll happen when I decide it will.”
