Manchester City demonstrated its superiority over AEK, which suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium in Matchday 3 of the Champions League group stage.
It was a difficult night for AEK, which was unable to contain the English side’s attacking arsenal, led by Phil Foden, who scored a hat trick and added an assist.
Foden thus managed to score the first hat trick of his career in Europe’s premier club competition. This achievement came in his 70th Champions League match, a milestone for the British player.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has scored two other hat tricks, both of which came in the Premier League.
Foden’s previous hat trick came on April 3 in a 4-1 win over Aston Villa, while he scored his first in the Manchester derby against United, when the “Citizens” won a resounding 6-3 victory on October 2, 2022.
