Olympiacos has been on a roll lately, filling in key pieces of the “red-and-white” puzzle. Following Smailović, who joined the team’s preseason training and was officially announced by the club, Zota Silva is next in line. The Portuguese winger is set to arrive in the Netherlands today and get to work, while the Piraeus club is expected to announce his signing shortly, on loan from Nottingham Forest.
Beyond that, Olympiacos is looking at its other targets. Certainly, the cases of Roca and Stanic are priorities. Not necessarily because they represent the greatest needs for José Luis Mendilibar’s team, but because these are deals that Olympiacos has been working on for some time.
The “Red-and-Whites” appear to be close to signing these two players—especially Stanic—but they have not yet secured the “yes” from Ludogorets and Girona. The players’ desire to find a new home is clear, but the green light from the Bulgarian and Spanish clubs has not yet been given. Olympiacos has the positions of left back and midfielder very high on its list of priorities. As for the latter, patience will be required, since Sofyan Amrabat—who is very high on the list—has his mind firmly set on his commitments with Morocco at the World Cup.
