This summer’s biggest transfer saga is, without a doubt, that of Julián Álvarez, who is eager to continue his career at Barcelona.
The Argentine striker has had a verbal agreement with the Catalans for about two months now, but Atlético Madrid stubbornly refuses to let him go, especially to the Spanish champions. The 26-year-old has returned to team training but was left out of the squad for the last preseason friendly.
The atmosphere within the “Rojiblancos” seems to be tense, as, according to the Spanish media, Álvarez feels betrayed by the club’s stance. In fact, he has been asked to publicly “apologize” for his stance (during the World Cup, he stated that he wanted to leave), something that has not yet happened.
Now, as Sport explains, the player’s representatives have requested a meeting with management in order to resolve the situation and allow him to continue his career at Barça.
