England emerged victorious from a nail-biter and continues to dream of the trophy!
After a thrilling match at the iconic Azteca Stadium, Tuchel’s team defeated Mexico 3-2, celebrating their advancement to the quarterfinals of this year’s World Cup, where they will face Norway (July 12, 12:00 a.m., Miami)!
The star of the show for the winners was Bellingham, who scored two goals in 1.5 minutes (36′, 38′) to make it 0-2, with the Mexicans pulling one back to 2-1 during a wild 8-minute stretch! Quansa left England a man down in the 54th minute, but in the 60th minute, Gordon drew a penalty and Kane made it 1-3 with his sixth goal of the tournament, before the Mexicans pulled one back again in the 69th minute on a penalty by Jiménez, pressing relentlessly but to no avail in the “final stretch.”
PAOK’s Jorge Sánchez started for Mexico and played until the 79th minute; AEK’s Orbelín Pineda did not see any playing time.
MVP: Jude Bellingham! With two goals scored within 1.5 minutes, he led his team to victory and was the best player on the field overall, even hitting the crossbar on his way to a hat trick!
