Initial remarks: “It’s a new competition. The first game is always the most important; we’re optimistic, we have high hopes, and we’re looking forward to a positive result. We’re playing every three days; we have a large squad, and whoever is called upon to play must be ready. Our goal is to achieve something as a team. Finishing first or second is a clear and non-negotiable goal. I believe we’re ready to achieve it. If we get good results in these two games, I’m confident the fans will support us in Cyprus. It’s also an opportunity for us to give something back to our country.”
On the fact that he is close to surpassing his father’s record for appearances on the national team: “My father will only be happy if I surpass him.”
On the atmosphere on the national team: “We have a very good atmosphere, and especially in recent years we’ve built a family. It’s an opportunity for us to get some results.”
He also added: “In recent games, we’ve seen a difference in the national team. What we’re missing is focus and avoiding simple mistakes. These four games are an opportunity for us to do everything perfectly.”
