The 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Cyprus Sports Writers’ Association (EAK), which this year was also a Statutory Meeting, with the aim of bringing the CJA’s bylaws into compliance with the provisions of the law governing associations, was held on Monday, September 21, 2026, in the Allwyn “Eu Agonizesthai” Hall at the Olympic Palace in Nicosia.
Attendance by EAK members was particularly encouraging, and the meeting took place in an excellent and constructive atmosphere. At the start of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Dimitris Dimitriou, Kostas Aravis, Lakis Foitidis, and Doros Halloumis.

The president of EAK, Herodotus Miltiades, read the Board of Directors’ annual report; Treasurer Marios Hatzistyllis presented the financial report and the audit committee’s report, while Secretary-General Marina Argyrou proceeded with the election of the new regular members of the EAK.
The General Assembly was chaired by the former Secretary General of the EAK, Mikaelo Papadakis, with Andreas Lazanitis, Andreas Apostatos, and Panagiotis Markou serving as members of the presiding committee. Also in attendance at the General Assembly were the EAK’s honorary president, Panagiotis Felloukas, and the EAK’s legal advisors, Giannis and Michalis Ioannou.
The new regular member elected at the General Assembly was Ramona Papaioannou.
In his report, the EAK president provided a detailed account of the dozens of initiatives carried out over the past year. He mentioned the renaming of the solidarity fund to the “Dimitris Dimitriou EAK Members’ Solidarity Fund.” He presented the results of the 53rd Festival of Excellence, held in January, and the 36th EAK-PSAT Congress, held in March in Larnaca.
He referred to the 88th AIPS Congress in Lausanne and the elections for AIPS and AIPS Europe, noting the large number of AIPS membership cards, and, regarding sports legislation, he highlighted the progress made through excellent cooperation with the Cyprus Olympic Committee (KOA). He also mentioned the EAK’s soccer and basketball teams, the annual refereeing seminar with the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) and Antonio Damato, which will take place this year on October 13, 2026, the Hercules Dinner, the Unemployed List, the Stadium Committee, the educational programs with university scholarships, and other initiatives.
During the General Assembly, the EAK thanked its sponsors and supporters: the EAK’s partner, the Cyprus Sports Organization (CSO); The Major Sponsor, Allwyn. The Gold Sponsors, Cytavision and Unicars. The Sponsors, Hercules, ERB CYPRIALIFE, Alphamega Supermarkets, and Psaltis Auto Parts. The Cyprus Radio Foundation, which supports the EAK at the Festival of Excellence. The Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC) for hosting the event at the Olympic Hall and for its support of the EAK-PSAT Conference.
This was followed by the statutory general assembly, where members unanimously approved the statutory amendments and additions required under the law governing associations.
This was followed by a discussion among the members, during which many important suggestions were brought to the attention of the Board of Directors.
After the meeting concluded, the EAK hosted a dinner for its members at a tavern in Nicosia.
