Premier League: Gross beat Kostoulas and won the Player of the Month award

He is only the fourth German player to win it
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Pascal Gross was named the Premier League Player of the Month for September, finishing ahead of his Brighton teammate Babis Kostoulas, among others, in the voting.

The 35-year-old midfielder wins the award for the first time, having scored two goals and provided three assists in September. Gross is the sixth-oldest player to win the award, behind Stuart Pearce and Teddy Sheringham (38 years old), Cristiano Ronaldo (who last won it at 37), Gianfranco Zola (who received it at 36), and Paul Scholes (who was also 35, but six months older than Gross is now).

Gross prevailed in the race for the award over Kostoulas, as well as Mohamed Beloumi (Hull), Jaden Bogle (Leeds), Alexander Isak, Jérémy Jacquet (Liverpool), Kevin Saint (Brentford), and Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City).

At the same time, not only is he the first Brighton player to receive the award, but he is also only the fourth German player to win it in Premier League history, following Ilkay Gündogan, Leroy Sané, and Jürgen Klinsmann.
